Plasterer / Painter — Apprentice Pathway
Start Your Trade Career. Build Something That Lasts.
Location: Taupō, New Zealand
Full-Time | Edge Exterior Plastering
We're looking for a reliable, hard-working person ready to start a career in exterior plastering and painting — no experience necessary.
This is an entry point into a genuine trade career. You'll work alongside experienced tradespeople on real homes, learn the craft from the ground up, and after showing us you're committed to building a long-term career, you'll be offered the opportunity to begin a formal apprenticeship.
At Edge Exterior Plastering, we believe quality workmanship starts with quality people. We work on homes our clients genuinely care about, and we're known for doing things properly — not taking shortcuts. If you take pride in your work, want to learn a real trade, and want to be part of a company building for the long term, we'd love to hear from you.

About Edge Exterior Plastering
Edge Exterior Plastering is a family-owned business based in Taupō, specialising in premium exterior plastering and painting services.
We're LBP Licensed (E2 Exterior Plastering) and certified applicators for SCP and Sto New Zealand plaster systems.
Our reputation has been built on craftsmanship, professionalism, honest communication, and delivering work we're proud to stand behind.
We're not trying to be the cheapest—we're focused on being the best choice for our clients.

The Opportunity
As a member of our plastering and painting team, you'll work hands-on every day — preparing surfaces, mixing and applying materials, and learning technique directly from experienced tradespeople and our site lead.
You'll start by building the fundamentals: reliability, safe practice, and a genuine work ethic. As you prove yourself over your first 6 months, we'll begin talking with you about your future here, including the opportunity to start a formal BCITO apprenticeship (typically 2–4 years) and build toward a recognised trade qualification.

What You'll Be Doing

You'll have strong technical plastering experience, enjoy mentoring others, and naturally take ownership of your work.

Full current driver's licence, or reliable transport to an agreed Taupō pickup point
-
Willingness to work outdoors in all weather

Comfortable working at heights (ladders/scaffolding)
-
Physically fit for manual, active work
